Driving force behind three platform generations: on-premises, CloudFoundry on AWS, and Kubernetes on AWS EKS — each a deliberate strategic transformation with full ownership of the decision, the plan, and the outcome
  • Made the strategic call to retire legacy on-premises infrastructure and championed the move to a self-hosted cloud platform on AWS. Defined the full migration roadmap, drove alignment across engineering and product leadership, and oversaw the migration of 1,500+ customer deployments and all internal platform services with zero customer disruption
  • Recognised the platform ceiling early and drove the decision to fully modernise onto Kubernetes on AWS EKS. Set the technical direction, built the execution plan, secured organisational buy-in, and led cross-team delivery to achieve 100% completion in under 12 months — one of the most complete platform transformations in Mendix's history
  • With the platform fully on Kubernetes, led the initiative to introduce AI-operated deployments. Built and deployed fully autonomous, AI-driven workflows for customer-facing support operations and significantly automated SRE processes, reducing routine human intervention and moving the platform towards self-managing operations
  • Grew the cloud organization from 6 engineers to 70+, personally shaping the team structure, hiring strategy, and leadership pipeline across EMEA, APAC, and the US
  • Orchestrated the Unified Cloud Platform (UCP) re-organisation: defined the team model, established clear ownership of all components, centralised infrastructure, and simplified execution across 8 products, 32 clusters, and 18 AWS regions

  • Directly managed backend reliability for time-series databases, server optimisation, cost governance, and cloud security across the platform

  • Built and owned the full monitoring stack using New Relic, Splunk, and Sensu; personally led incident response as the on-call incident manager for the APAC region

Began as a full-stack engineer and quickly became the technical lead on a major legacy modernisation for AT&T — the first of many transformations, this time hands-on in every line of code
  • Individually contributed to the rewrite of mission-critical mainframe applications to Java, JavaScript, and modern web stacks, touching every layer of the stack from front-end to backend services
  • Hands-on migration of 20+ Unix servers to Linux, coordinating offshore development work and personally managing end-to-end delivery

Presented Mendix's multi-regional cloud architecture to an audience of AWS customers, engineers, and executives at AWS Summit Zurich 2023. The talk covered how we designed an active-active, multi-region setup across 19 AWS regions to deliver the highest tier of disaster recovery, sub-second failover, and strict data sovereignty guarantees, all while maintaining a single pane of glass for operations. Walked through the architectural trade-offs, automation strategies, and how the platform serves 19,000+ production applications at global scale.

Security isn't a team: it's an outcome. I've owned it that way.

As the primary security owner for Mendix Public Cloud, I have been the engineering lead across every major audit, pentest, and compliance initiative. Working closely with the CISO, Security, Compliance, and Legal teams, I automated the audit review and evidence-collection process using Jira integrations — turning a manual, quarterly scramble into a continuous, always-audit-ready posture. The result: Mendix holds 20+ industry certifications, covering healthcare, government, financial services, and enterprise cloud workloads globally.
